Few HR professionals give their organizations high marks in terms of the maturity of their talent acquisition functions. Only 18% percent say their TA function is advanced or top-notch. About half say their TA function is progressing whereas 29% say it is either improvisational or chaotic.
Few talent acquisition functions are top-notch or advanced
We asked respondents to rate their organizations’ talent acquisition function based on a six-level HR Research Institute (HRRI) maturity model. The model and descriptions of each stage are outlined below.
Only 18% describe their talent acquisition function as “top-notch” or “advanced.” This compares to 29% in the 2020 study, a considerable drop. Perhaps this is a statistical fluke, but it may also indicate that some TA departments lost personnel or other capabilities during the Covid-19 pandemic economic downturn.
The good news is that about half feel their TA function is progressing toward fuller maturity. The discouraging news? Nearly one in three rate their TA functions as nonexistent, chaotic, or improvisational. This leaves considerable room for improvement for most organizations. Later in this report, we will dive into some of the TA practices that correlate with higher levels of maturity.
